The Support Service is aimed at tackling the emotional and psychological aspects that can affect you at certain times when you have a disability or health condition.
This support is available to individuals by telephone or in person and to groups.
Diagnosis of a health condition/disability
The world can seem very grim for a while, even when having all the practical support that you need. It is at this time of transition that having someone there to listen or to talk through some of your worries and concerns with can be a huge help.
Preparation for an operation or procedure
Sometimes there are difficult decisions and choices to be made even when you have all the medical information you need. It can be difficult to see your way through and talking to an impartial person can help.
Planning your recovery
Ok so now you’ve climbed mental and emotional mountains to get to this point and it’s time to reassess and to prepare yourself for the next step of the journey with support.
Achieving your health goals
By this stage you have achieved a lot. Looking back at how things were you can see how far you have progressed. Sometimes at this point it is easy to overdo it.
So the approach is still ‘step by step’ but now the steps are bigger than they were before.
Reviewing and maintaining your progress
Now this stage is for Life! Having come so far this is when getting into a routine really helps. Having regular and then occasional support to help keep you on track can be just what is needed.
